NICAS Climbing Course 2nd & 16th November 2-5pm
As part of our range of activities we are will be working alongside the Quay Climbing Centre in Exeter to develop our skills in indoor climbing. We will be working with the Quay’s qualified instructors on the NICAS scheme.
NICAS Climbing is a UK-wide scheme designed to introduce participants to roped climbing through a structured programme. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to enhance your climbing skills, NICAS provides a safe and enjoyable pathway.
NICAS Climbing aims to develop climbing skills in a safe and structured environment. It covers both indoor roped climbing as well as bouldering, providing participants with a solid foundation in climbing techniques, safety awareness, and personal progression.
NICAS Climbing is suitable for individuals aged 7+, from absolute beginners to experienced climbers looking to refine their skills.
There are five levels to NICAS and we will be working towards levels 1 and 2, depending on experience.
NICAS Climbing Levels
1. New Climber
Level 1 introduces beginners to roped climbing, and recognises their ability to climb safely under supervision.
2. Foundation Climber
Aimed at promoting good practice in climbing and bouldering unsupervised on artificial walls.
At the end of these two, three hour sessions, if we have achieved the assessment criteria we will achieve a NICAS Level 1 or even a Level 2 qualification.
If you have a head for hights and what to learn/develop a new skill this could be for you.
The two, three hour sessions are on the 2nd and 16th November 2025 at the Quay Climbing Centre in Exeter. The sessions are free to our deaf children but there is a charge of £40 for siblings. This charge covers both sessions.
You should wear light, breathable clothing which allows a full range of movement.
